TIME

In the reading, "Elements of 4D Art and Design," it states that height, width, and depth are all included when it comes to the element of time in 4D art. It also states that time refers to change. All interactions take place over time, it could be instantaneous or it could be over a long period of time. Humans work to manipulate time as well by trying to lengthen their lives.

There are also many categories of time, including: measured time (actual, objective, or clock time), experienced time (subjective, psychological, implied, perceived time), running time/plot time (total length of a live even or video piece, length of the plot), biological time (measure of time related to the bodily functions), digital time (measured in milliseconds and often associated with technology).

Time Travel: Steve Hester
I really like how both of the clocks have opposite vibes to them. One is more fire-y and the other is melting and looks more cold. I also like the abstract shapes to the clocks, it looks like they could almost combine with each other and be one huge clock. Time is an important element in 4D art because it allows the viewer to feel a sense of change and a sense of movement within the art. I think this artwork is very mysterious and I definitely want to look more into it to find the artists process and inspiration for this piece. I learned that a lot of people interpret this piece of art in many different ways.

SOUND
Sound is vibration that can be perceived by the ear. It's important for communication and how we live our daily lives. Many parts of life include sound. Attack, sustain, and decay are all parts of sound. The opposite of sound is silence: the perceived absence of sound. Some argue there is no such thing as true silence. You can aurally direct focus in a work by utilizing sound and silence together. There are different ways to categorize sound. Synchronous sounds (are those that are timed to their source on-screen or within a designated performance space), non-synchronous sounds (play on-screen or on stage while their source is not currently visible, but either has been or will be), asynchronous sounds (are sounds we hear that do not match what we see), diegetic sounds (actual sounds), non-diegetic (contemporary sounds). It is important to know the usefulness of sounds in art.
Great Animal Orchestra, Bernie Krause and United Visual Artists.

I really like this artwork. I think the visual affects and the sounds go really nice together and work really well. I also like the meaning behind this piece, commenting on animals in the modern world. It seems like the experience would put you into the situation and the orchestra playing along with the animal sounds would be really interesting to listen to and see how they would mesh together.

MOVEMENT
Movement is a shift or variation in the location of an object, light, or sound. You can manipulate each of these things to shift the focus of your composition. Other elements that effect movement are shape, space, levels of space, balance, energy dynamics, weight, and gestures. There are also different kinds of movement. Successional movement leads the eye in one direction, whereas oppositional movement contrasts this with a clash of forces that lead the eye in a different direction. Stillness is the absence of movement and is just as important as movement. Sound movement has distinct parts. Attack, sustain, and decay. The objects doing the movement have a base of support and a center of gravity. Gestures/isolations are movements of each part of the body. Animated GIFs are great examples of movement and cinema graphs. When playing around with movement, you can choose an organic direction or and angular direction. In film and video you can use movement with the camera to create a sense of movement in your art. You can pan, tilt, or zoom the camera. You can also use a tracking or dolly shot to create the illusion of movement.

Designer Nobuyuki Kayahara

This art piece if a very popular illusion. By using a very simple movement and a silhouette the designer was able to create an interesting illusion. By looking and focusing on the ballerina in different ways it can change the way the ballerina is spinning. The movement is very simple but creates a very drastic impact on this art piece. I really like the simplicity of this artwork and I have always found it intriguing
