Project 1_ Haley Sherrell

Week 1: 8/29 - 9/2

Wednesday, August 31

Today we had time in class to explore campus and work on shooting short clips of objects at different angles and using different techniques. I was able to shoot some cool shots outside as well as a few in Bracken Library. I tried using low angles, high angles, panning, and zooming in and out to enhance the shots I was filming. Here are some screen shots of some of the scenes I was shooting. ]

Friday, September 2

Today we worked on the story boards for our first project. My idea is to make a sentimental/nostalgic video about a man growing up but remember how his childhood use to be. The object I would be emphasizing in this scenario is his childhood bike. He ends up taking this bike all around his home town on a nostalgic ride that makes him want to keep the bike and ride it regularly. Below is my story board panels where you can see the shots I plan to take in depth.

Week 2: 9/5 - 9/9

Wednesday, September 7

Today I practiced editing the clips I took last week to become familiar with the software. I practiced inserting my clips, cropping them, unlinking them from audio, adding transitions, and a filter over my clips. Below are some screen shots from my process.

Thursday, September 8

Today I started filming all the clips I would need for my video project. The idea behind my video is to evoke a nostalgic feeling. In this story there are various clips that represent happy emotions as a man relives his childhood years on his old bike. He rides around his neighborhood, a park, and finally back home again where he decides to keep his bike instead of getting rid of it.
This is a shot of the bicycle up against trash cans with a free sign next to it.

This is a shot of the man riding his bile through the park having a fun time.

Friday, September 9

Today I spent class time importing my clips that I filmed last night and putting them together, adding transitions, cropping, and adding audio. I had to cut down some clips or even exclude them entirely from the video that way I wasn't way over 2 minutes. Below are some screenshots of my process.
This is me downloading the audio file I thought best fit the situation represented in my video.

This is a screenshot of me cropping a clip so that it lined up smoothly with my next clip.

Week 3: 9/12-9/16

This week was spent editing my video and adding the final touches, like more transitions, text, and filters. This has just been a process of perfecting my video and getting it to look the way I want before submission! Below are screenshots of some of the process

Week 4: 9/19-9/23

Wednesday, September 21

Today I added the finishing touches to my project. Then I tried to render it and export it but it wasn't rendering for some reason so when I exported it, one of my clips showed up as a blank screen. I tried many ways to fix this and seemed like I was going to have to try and do it on another computer. However I noticed that it was only one clip that wasn't rendering correctly. I played around with the clip and eventually I got it to render and export correctly which was a huge relief. After I exported it I uploaded it to YouTube and turned it in!
